TM>That's a matter of doubt. Remember that using samples makes it a bit TM>difficult to use the filter (though not impossible, if the TM>sample-player and the SID player are intergrated well enough). Yep, that's true, there are problems with anything $d018 related, including the filter probs, plus not being able to fade the music/on/off.. (unless you stop the NMI routines..). If the sample player routine could 'read' the sid players registers, and switch the filter bit on/off as appropriate in its nmi routine, then there would be no probs. difficult tho! (: TM>There's also a hardware modification you can do to 128's and 64C's, TM>which will make it into much the same as an older SID as far as samples TM>are concerned. I'm waiting for more info though. Yep, I've heard there are lots of mods to 'fix' the new new 64c's to work like the original. I've even done one myself - reconnected the reset line to the serial bus. So now whenever I hit reset, the drives automatically reset themselves. Before this mod, if the drive locked up for some reason, the only way to fix it was to on/off the drive and/or computer, which is a hassle! TM>Bloody slack bastard (I can talk ;) I'll say! When's the mag due? (-: I'll have to get used to macro assembler first, then I can do some REAL code (: The hacking mags are fantastic - the article on how the Rob Hubbard routine works was very informative - will make my 2 sample + 2 sid channel player much easier to write (just rip the player code (: ) Btw, I now have 'temporary' INTERNET access! I've sort of been borrowing my dad's COMPUSERVE account, and getting onto internet from there. Read a bit of comp.sys.cbm etc. Good to see some 'real' sceners there - bachus/??? (fairlight?) for example. Havent figured out FTP or any of the realtime chat though - I dont think they are available through the compuserve gateway. Stuffed around with all the compuserve ones though.. There are a couple of compuserve sites with 64 files, so I'll sponge some of them, plus the sites have chat channels as well (though noone was home..).. Will keep looking around, only been on twice so far so probably missed a lot through inexperience.. anyway, chat later! cya, Strobe/Menace --- Ezycom V1.10g1 00f90038* Origin: WOW BBS - Commodore Suport, Sydney's West (3:713/888) SEEN-BY: 50/99 54/54 623/630 640/316 711/807 808 809 929 934 712/623 713/317 SEEN-BY: 713/700 805 888 714/906 @PATH: 713/888 54/54 711/808 809 934 |
