Hi Ed..  Using XP here.  I've noticed that the screen would kind of
"refresh" (desktop icons would regenerate), and doing so, the
screen would appear to go dark for just a fraction of a second.

Happens very rarely. But when it does, it's usually when I've reached a
threshold in memory resources and have to kill a rogue program.
