| subject: | `Windows Security Center` phone calls |
Alan Zisman -> All said.. AZ> A number of seniors and retired folks I know have received AZ> phone calls that claim to be from the "Windows Security AZ> Center", stating that they have information that there's AZ> malware of the senior's computer.. Not sure if it's the same scam, but I've received a couple of calls like that in the last few months. The caller starts by saying that they are "the Microsoft security center.." and that "your computer has a virus." On the first call, I remember saying.. "Oh! Is that so... you've got to be really good at your job scamming people", then I just asked to be on the Do Not Call List. He hung up in ME immediately. On a subsequent call a few weeks later, I just basically told the guy that "you'd probably do better at a real job than trying to scam people." Then *I* hung up. Part of me would like to entertain them to the point where they make a mistake in the ongoing lie. But it's also just a waste of time. --- Thunderbird 2.0.0.24 (Windows/20100228)* Origin: Fidonet Via Newsreader - http://www.easternstar.info (1:123/789.0) SEEN-BY: 3/0 633/267 640/954 712/0 313 550 620 848 953 @PATH: 123/789 500 261/38 712/848 633/267 |
