I believe that neither a computer or modem are necessary, just the weatherfax
machine. A modem is an integral part of any fax machine and a weatherfax
machine is just a special fax machine designed to interface with a radio
receiver instead of a phone line.
I believe Raytheon is one manufacturer of weatherfax machines. Let me know if
you want me to look up details.
