I believe that neither a computer or modem are necessary, just the weatherfax 
machine. A modem is an integral part of any fax machine and a weatherfax 
machine is just a special fax machine designed to interface with a radio 
receiver instead of a phone line.
 
I believe Raytheon is one manufacturer of weatherfax machines. Let me know if 
you want me to look up details.
