JB> Been reading the messages in here to see if anyone is watching the
JB> Voyager series and since I saw it mentioned here I thought I'd jump in.
Oh, yes. We're watching.
JB> Captain Janeway has had to join with a borg called 7 of 9 to fight off
JB> a mutual enemy,(brought on by the borg collective) and with 7 of 9 bieng
JB> the only Borg she becomes human (or whatever her race) again.
Star Trek almost always has an "exploring what it means to be human'
character. Spock played this role, as does Data and Odo. Voyager
hasn't really had one. Tuvok is Vulcan, but Vulcan reactions to
humanity have been pretty thoroughly explored. Neelix and Kes never
really plugged into this role. The has Doctor filled the capacity up to
now, but in a way that is more often sarcastic than insightful.
If the Seven of Nine character is successful, she will make the viewers
really examine elements of the human psyche.
So far this season, Voyager has given us a string of pretty good
episodes. The series' past track reord is very mixed. I certainly
hope they continue the trend of the first few episodes of this season.
