I found myself doing this with another higher volume list until I
retrained myself.  It is a matter of going thru the mail and deleting
the obvious ones (unsubscribe for instance) and then checking all the
others, even if it is just a quick scan.
Another thing that helped me a lot is that I got Eudora Pro for a
mail program.  This allows me to use filters to put all the TSE-Pro
mail in a single mailbox.  I can also go thru and re-title the mail
after I read it to something meaningful to me.  For instance, if I
were to keep this mail it may be that I rename the subject to something
like "How to organize TSE mail."  Another HUGE help with Eudora Pro
is that I can sort my list of messages by date, subject, or author
and then I can use color labels to further separate messages for
me.
I don't think threading would help much since most threads last for only
2 or 3 messages and the longest are only around 10 or 11... which is
very rare.
