I used an altavista translator, and was sort of able to make out what he said 
(the translator from Italian to English was not the greatest).  Do you have a 
better translation?

From what I could make out (as I noted -- not a great translation) he seemed 
to be saying that he believed life existed outside of Earth.  That is not the 
same thing as saying ET contact is real.  If somebody has a better 
translation, I'd be interested to see it, but, again, this is one priest 
speaking his mind, not an official Vatican announcement (of course, even if 
it were an official Vatican announcement, these guys just admitted that 
Galileo was right and shouldn't have been persecuted, so I don't exactly 
consider them a great scientific source ).
