"Skewed" certainly describes PETA's thinking...or Newkirk's,
which seems to be the same thing.  I read elsewhere that a
few rebels within PETA have been very upset because top
leaders including Newkirk have been participating in a
campaign to kill feral cats in major cities.
In some of these cities, the local PETA chapters have long
favored and practiced trapping and neutering ferals, then
releasing them to contimue inhabiting their territories.
This way, they keep on controlling rodents and prevent
"intact" ferals from simply moving in to take their place.
Since the goal is controlling overpopulation of feral cats,
this sounds like a sensible activity for a group of animal
lovers -- no wonder Newkirk favors killing them instead!

Let's see...according to Newkirk it's wrong for us to kill
animals and use them for food and clothing, but it's okay
for PETA officials to kill other animals and obtain no
benefit from them at all.  Makes about s much sense as the
average liberal cause, I suppose.  And it certainly is no
less hypocritical than I would expect from a liberal leader.

Is there anything in my comments above that would suggest
I've recently adopted a cat?   Got her from the local
Humane Society shelter, where she'd been since arriving...
pregnant (but never again!)...last July.  I was persuaded
to get a cat by all Rush said about his/Marta's kitten
Punkin; but I was persuaded to adopt an adult cat instead
of a kitten by another talk show host I respect, Gil Gross.
Let Rush and Marta deal with the "six-month-old crazies"
if they want to, my Meko is past that stage and already
in the "Get up fro the computer, you're sitting in the
chair where I want to sleep!" stage.
