Your experience with WPG and PCX formats surprises me... to my knowledge, there has never been a change in the WPG format and the PCX format is standardized. Of course, it's possible that Paint Shop Pro writes slightly incompatible formats. I import WPG files written by ChemWin (a chemical structural formula drawing program for Windows) into WP 5.1 regularly. What does WP say when you try to import one of these files? Just "incompatible format"? The only problems I've ever had were with TIF files. Cheers, Bob --- --------------- ** A related thread FOLLOWS this message. Of course, it's possible that Paint Shop RB>Pro writes slightly incompatible formats. The WPG format has been changed at least 6 times since version 4.2. Initially started out as a bit-mapped format, added support for TIFF and PCX under the WPG extension, added several Vector graphics formats, also under the hood, so for example, if you bought the Graphics package that was released with WP 5.1 for Windows, the graphics could not be used in any DOS version at the time. __ (__ ___)teve shattuck@execpc.com via Windows 95 CMPQwk 1.42 #329 ... In fact there is an easy way to remember the proper IRQ assignments, "The sum of the port number and the IRQ is 5 for low ports and 7 for high ports." Thus: COM 1 + IRQ 4 = 5 COM 2 + IRQ 3 = 5 COM 3 + IRQ 4 = 7 COM 4 + IRQ 3 = 7 No need to resort to tables, which in your case are obviously WRONG. Also, for absolute accuracy, these are not exactly the stand. IBM used different IRQ's in the original PS2. Also for absolute accuracy, these are "standards" and NOT absolutes. My modem runs under COM3/IRQ5 simply to avoid Windows 95's reluctance to share IRQ's. __ (__ ___)teve shattuck@execpc.com via Windows 95 CMPQwk 1.42 #329 ... RB> [Importing graphics files into WP 5.1(+)...] RB> Your experience with WPG and PCX formats surprises me... to my RB> knowledge, there has never been a change in the WPG format and the PCX Bob, The Original DOS5.0 WPG file stayed the same for 5.1. A new and improved WPG file format appeared in WP Presentations, and I am fairly sure the 6.x variations have still another "enhancement" I believe PCX has at least 3 variations also, but TIFF has even more. I imported a TIFF file into an overhead, added a title and had a 1+ meg file that a 3meg HP II printer could not handle. I had to export it as a PCX to reduce size.
