John,

One of the highlights and joys of my career in the computer biz was dealing
with Adam as he tried to get AT&T Computer Systems to bundle his
Paperback Software with our PCs. Intelligent, feisty, funny as hell, and a
gentleman. Was a flawed visionary. Many of the articles pointed out his
portable computer as key to his vision, but I think it was Paperback
Software that was the most "visionary" of them all.

He was selling robust software for $30 a copy, the same one would pay for a
packaged Linux Distro. And Paperbacks 1-2-3/dBase II was revolutionary on
the level of Lotus's later Improv. He got a raw deal when he lost the Lotus
suit and then Lotus Improv was just basically an enhancement on his
product. Manzi era Lotus may have been more evil than the worst that MS may
have done as far as advancing software.

I am truly saddened to hear of Adam's death. I hope that he will get the
recognition in history that he deserves.
