All of the following is probably not relevant, but under which version
of eCS is that occurring for you. I initially used the B57 drivers
without any loading problems or delays in IIRC, Beta 2, and they
worked fine until I think in Beta 4 where they were replaced by the
Genmac Wrapper with the Windows version, as the installation put that
as the selected option, and that selection remains the default one
through to RC2.

The machine that had the B57 drivers installed, although it has the
NetXtreme Gigabit inbuilt, is throttled to 100 Mbps, as it goes
through a Bay Networks 16-port 10/100 switch. Because the switch has 3
separate fans which have an audible whir, I power it off when all
systems connected to it are powered-off.

With the Genmac driver, I suddenly found out one day when I omitted to
power-up the switch, that this did bad things to the system and a
significant delay was evident on booting, requiring a cold-boot, IIRC,
in order to regain TCP/IP and LAN connectivity.

The same process with the native B57 driver gave the usual OS/2 result
- powering up the switch after the boot had completed, allowed
DHCP/TCPIP and the Requester to be started with no drama.

I later found that the Genmac problem came about because of the
ordering sequence in the config.sys of the Genmac helper file (it has
to be one of the first drivers loaded), as I had elected, as I
invariably do, to have the config.sys unsorted. Once that was
corrected, there were no other NIC problems, and I was then able to
re-start the TCP/IP etc. after deliberately having the switch
powered-off at boot.

The only noticeable delays during boot to various volumes on that
system, HP dx5150 A64 3200+ [socket 939 - UNI] seem to occur around
the time the ssesctl.exe runs, and also with the FAT32 drivers.
