It's a while since I tried to install OS/2, but as I understand it, OS/2 runs chkdsk automatically and "corrects" any errors by running fdisk. What I am saying is that if you installed OS/2 with LBA, on a non-LBA formatted disc, OS/2 would find lots of errors and "fix" them by stuffing the file access, especially on cylinders above 1024. This is what I assumed you did. I also assume that the problemn is the way OS/2 insists on rewriting the FAT with chkdsk and fdisk during installation, making "corrections" as it goes.
