Dale, I know you aren't the originator, but you expressed the same problem.
The default set up for QmodemPro should have been setup such that Hangup=DTR.
To fix,  Bring up Qmpro.  Type Alt-Z, the Config, Device, highlight the modem 
definition you are working with, then type Cfor cmds.  Alt_H should be set to 
DTR for Data Terminal Ready. This should force your modem to hangup.
