There are more, but a quick way to check is use the Mode command from 
the commandline. Use the buffer parameter, like:
   mode com1:,buffer=on
Then use no parms, except the port:
   mode com1:
When it displays a.o. BUFFER=ON, then you have a UART with hardware 
buffer (16650A like).
