Keith Knapp discussing ""Existence Exists"" with Matt Eggleston...
KK> Science has no measureable evidence for the existence of God.
Indeed. But let's put that in context: there is no measurable evidence for
the existence of god. Period.
KK> Contrary
KK> to the unscientific opinions of a few scientists, that does not prove
KK> the nonexistence of God.
You stated in your message that science cannot prove a negative. With regard
to god NO-ONE can prove the negative assertion - god does not exist. It can
only be proved wrong.
KK> Under strict scientific methodology, it means
KK> science is silent on that question.
As indeed it should. Science deals with evidence. There is no evidence of
god. Science does not deal with it.
KK> Or as the aphorism puts it, absence
KK> of evidence is not evidence of absence.
Indeed. But then one can state things like; there are invisible pink
elephants on the dark side of the moon. There is an absence of evidence for
my assertion, but that is not evidence of absence.
It's a not an aphorism as I understand them.
Absence of evidence is no evidence. Without evidence we have nothing to
consider. Anything more is speculation and belief, and only those that
speculate and believe use this non-aphorism.
