I don't know if it's exactly a "rope a dope" strategy or if it's
more a case of using Iraq as a base since we couldn't get access to bases
in surrounding countries. Far too little news coming out of western and
northern Iraq. If basra is putting up such a fight then why isn't there
fighting like that in Ar Rutbah or An Nukhayb out western? No fighting in
the whole al Anbar province? Is it possible we had some forces quietly
enter thru Jordan?

those are big deserts out west, you could hide an army there..
