 IBM DOS is MS DOS just marmeted under a different Name. In fact Bill
Gates signed a Contract to Provide IBM with a DOS before he had
anythong. Through a Stroke of Luck he bought someone elses Work and
presented it as His to IBM. the Contract though Allowed him to also
market DOS under the MS banner. DR-DOS was a very clever workarround
but still wasa not fully 100% compatable.        
MicroSlime pulled a Dirty trick on them when it released Win3x. They
gave DR the origional Code so their DOs would support Win3x but then
changes the Code before release without Telling DR. 
DR did quickly come out with a patch but by then it was too late adn
they basicly lost almost al lof theri market penetration. Several DOS
versions of course still exist but only in Sliver markets. As an Example
several Software suppliers use the Current version of the Old DR DOS for
emergency boot disks. Getting arrounnd paying Royalities to MicroSlime.
