Thom, I would agree that the /Editor/ should not be recognized as a Fidonet
position; however the existence of the FidoNews as the 'official' channel
of communication needs to be retained.

Using the newspaper/government analogy, while the newspaper is an
independent entity, it also generally functions as the 'official' source of
notifications for most local governments.

I think that association between Fidonet/FidoNews is valid, and should be retained. 

However, any mention in Policy about the operation or management of the
FidoNews is beyond the scope of that document.
