I suspect the way system BIOS are wired that no motherboard controller will
ever function properly without use of IRQ 14. I've never seen a functional
motherboard 1st IDE controller not use IRQ 14 exclusively. So, your focus
should be on making it available. If your SCSI host is still installed, try
removing it at least until you get your IDE controller(s) properly
functioning. If your SCSI host is using IRQ 14, it must somehow be changed
to use something else in order to keep it in a system with working
motherboard primary IDE controller.
