In that circuit the capacitors do double duty both to couple the loudspeaker and to filter the supply. But I was wrong since in that amplifier circuit the capacitors go between the colletors, the emitters are common to ground, and ground is floating with respect to the power supply. It's a very odd circuit! Mike **** ...
