   Ridiculous.  As a taxpayer, I have to fork out 26.5 billion to cover the
cost of credit monitoring.    For free, we could allow everyone to freeze
their credit.   Everyone would have peace of mind rather than needing to
monitor their credit continuously.

    For all the hoo haa over the delay in revealing the theft (THREE WHOLE
WEEKS where the veterans were blissfully ignorant), everyone fails to note
that the real stress comes from the multiyear credit monitoring.   Also
which, allowing people to freeze their own credit would solve the problem.
