On 03-03-98, ROBERT CRAFT declared to ROBERT PLETT:
RC> RP> That alone is sufficient for impeachment.
RC> RC> In your eyes and mine, yes. But, the two of us don't
RC> RC> constitute a Senate majority.
RC> RP> True enough. Shows how far the integrity of the Senate has
RC> RP> fallen.
RC>Not at all - it shows how far the integrity of the Senate
RC>minority has fallen - that minority which constitutes the
RC>difference between the Republican majority and the 2/3's
RC>majority necessary for Impeachment.
I disagree. A considerable number of that Republican majority,
certainly the leadership, does not want to see Clinton impeached for
political reasons. They couldn't care less about justice for the
corruption and criminality - they just want to play those things
in campaigns. They are as bereft of morality and principle as the
DemonRats are, and just as culpable.
I don't leave the DemonRats out either. They once had people of
principle and morality too, whose concern was the nation rather than
themselves or their party, who wouldn't have hesitated to roundly
condemn the wrongdoing we've seen from this White House, regardless the
occupant, and would've been out front to impeach such criminals.
Sorry, Robert, but there is no excuse for Congress not having impeached
Clinton already. Furthermore, we have no business granting either party
a pass for their having refused to act.
