For several years I not had any HDDs inside the case, they are all in plugin, front panel racks. Hot swappable mostly means nothing will blow up. But, it is likely to seriously confuse the OS. Do you want or need them? That is all a mater of work style and philosophy. I have clones of the boot drives. If an OS blows up, I just swap the drive. I have some storage drives in a fire box. I may carry a drive from one machine to another - high volume sneaker net. You pays your money and takes your choice. Ray Yahoo!
