In this case it does not matter whether Trump is a Democrat (he once
was) or a Republican -- what matters is his complete inadequacy at
providing any leadership for dealing with this pandemic. What direction
he did provide was to either ignore the virus or to be totally wrong in
his statements. The tragedy is that many governors followed his
ignorance instead of paying attention to science. If Trump had issued
the proper guidance from the beginning, it is likely that 100,000 deaths
might have been avoided. We currently are at more than 160,000 deaths.
early on, the scientists showed a chart that predicted about 60,000
deaths if the appropriate mitigation measures were taken. Those
measures were not only ignored by Trump, he openly spoke against them
and publically encouraged ignoring them.
