  I've lost the original post so I don't know who to thank, other than Dani
who apparently originated the recommendation in a post I missed. So I am
thanking the unnamed person and once again Dani (geez! would you marry me
Dani? ;)  for mentioning the D-Link Airpluss pocket router/access point.  I
just picked one up for well under 40 bucks US and am just blown away by
it's diminutive size and big power.  What a great solution for those of us
using "alternative" OpSys lacking in support for wifi nics.  With
it's 3-way function switch it covers and solves numerous problems and I am
very pleased having replaced an old classic pentium system I built solely
to provide a wireless subnet.  Shoot! The electric bill savings alone will
pay for the pocket router in a very short time and I certainly gained a
huge amount of desktop real estate.  Again... thanks so much.  What a great
forum this has been over the years.
