You may have received an answer by this time already, but in case you
haven't, here's my reply...
I managed to achieve what you are looking for with (it sounds like) very
much the same kind of problem. I made use of 2 styles; one for the
sections and one for the subsections. The styles included the following:
Style - Section Heading = reset subsection counter to 1 (not zero)
Style - Subsection = display counter and then increment counter (seperate
codes)
I can't explain why your method didn't work. I worked through the same
problem about 2 years ago and came up with my _slightly different_
solution which worked for me.
