> Thank you > Gettring rid of msvc seems to be the general consensus. I > appreciate your help Sure. I would really consider getting rid of that, and getting possibly the Watcom or Borland compilers. As with everything else made by MS(except for Word), VC++ is the least functional piece of junk that can be had. I've been using it at work on a windoze project (God help me), basically using Borland C++ to do the development, and compiling the "final" executables with VC++, only because our client wants us to use VC++. Borland's compiler will build the whole project in less than 5 minutes, VC++ takes a whopping 20+ to build the same thing! That's with no optimizations. I was amazed at that the first time i did a full build with VC++. I'm also amazed at how brain-dead the compiler is. The simplest things, such as: MyStruct array[20]; MyStruct *p = &array[2]; won't compile! You have to do: MyStruct array[20]; MyStruct m = array[2]; MyStruct *p = &m; As far as its C++ implementation, it's a joke. I wouldn't be surprised to see something like #ifdef __cplusplus #define new(x) malloc sizeof(x) #endif in the header files somewhere. Sorry to go off like that.
