I apologise if this has been 'done to death', but are you absolutely
certain that the IDE interfaces are enabled in the bios? On the
'Advanced' screen there is an entry 'Onboard PCI IDE enable' - you will
have to scroll down to see it. When, many years ago, I had an all-SCSI
system I had the onboard IDE interfaces disabled so that I could use
their IRQs for other peripherals. Unless you've explicitly changed the
IRQ assignments elsewhere I can think of no reason why the bios wouldn't
assign them to the IDE interfaces - unless something's broken, of course.
Also, the manual Mike uploaded refers to additional Promise IDE
interfaces - does your board have these?
