Patrick, Hello!
I have an Amiga 3000/060, a pair of 28.8k/33.6k SupraFAXmodems and a 115k
multi-port serial card. I'm having a problem (very frustrating) with my ISP
:( I hope this is just a problem with my INIT string, maybe you can tell me
if that's what it sounds like to you...
The main problem has been with getting connected and staying connected...
Half the time I cannot complete the logon process, as my automated script
never gets me past the name and password stage... Sometimes when I have the
speaker turned on, I can tell by the sound that things are not going as they
should :( The other half of the time, I get connected just fine, (using the
same automated script), but then get dropped anytime there's a lull in data
transfer :( i.e. If I try to configure something while online, try to use
CUSeeMe, or read online docs, I'll get dropped within just a few seconds,
literally...
If, on the other hand, there are alot of graphics on the screen, or I am
downloading multiple files, then the chance of a dropped carrier is lessened
greatly, (though it can still happen). There aren't alot of retrains...
Just a sudden drop :(
I'm using the INIT string suggested in the TermiteTCP manual:
AT&F2E1V1M1&C1&D2
Both of my 28.8k SupraFAXmodems (external), are flashed with 1.440-25 and
both use the same init string. I have tried switching ports and thus have
changed 'both' the phone line 'and' modem, but that didn't solve the problem
:( I even tried re-flashing the modems, but that made no diff either :(
Unfortunately, my ISP has no concept of what an Amiga is, and can offer no
explaination. I have asked what brand modem their using, but have yet to
hear back from them. I assume they have 28.8k/33.6k USR's.
Can you suggest any changes to my INIT string that might make for a better,
more reliable connection? Or does this sound like something else might be
the problem?
Thanks, Dale
