How so?
On the LVM issue, a couple of points.
1. LVM was initially blamed for a little bit of nastiness having to do
with "volumizing" (and trashing) removable media in eCS 1.0 (and probably
warp 4.52). I'm not familiar with the particulars, but think that this
wasn't LVM per se, but some pre-LVM utility that was running out of
control. I think it's been tamed since, but a prudent person will remove
all such media before doing an install.
2. Yes, LVM is a different approach. It didn't really come from the
mainframe world, rather from the RS6000- AIX side of IBM. It takes a bit
of getting used to (needing to switch between physical and logical views),
but really does everything I used to be able to do with FDISK.
The LVMGUI was troublesome (still may be) - I always use LVM in a cmd
window.
3. (so I lied about 2) - I think I can create logical partitions in LVM.
There is an implicit extended partition involved here, but I don't find it
a big deal.
