For anyone having trouble with DOOM, I have good news and bad news:-
Good News
DOOM 1.11 has been released, with some bug fixes for
the DOS Extender, SoundBlaster users and OS/2 users.
A newer version of DOOM with native stereo PAS16 support
as well as modem/null-modem support for NetDOOM will be
released at the earliest, next week, and at the latest,
early January.
The cheat codes are now available, as are many maps (GIF and PCX
formats).
A "gamma key" has been added to change the palette for
people who thought DOOM was "too dark".
Bad News
Saved games are now incompatible with those from DOOM 1.0
(due to all the save game editors that were released within
days of DOOM's release).
Some people are reporting more problems with DOOM 1.1/1.11 than
with DOOM 1.0. Caveat user.
I'll be uploading DOOM 1.11 (that's what it is, even though it calls itself
DOOM 1.1) to Paul's later tonight - it's now two archives, a little over
1Mb each (fits better onto 1.44Mb floppies).
Cheers..
