It has to be said that wrt his comments the German U-boat service had the
highest casualty rate of any branch of the Nazi armed forces & that not
everyone (or possibly not even the majority) who fought in those boats were
nazis.
Also he was not comparing modern day push button submariner warfare which
is the modern equivalent of the gunboat wrt striking ground targets to the
WW2 operations which were harsh for all concerned. I don't agree that they
are cowards & I can't see his point as I would argue given the
disconnected nature of the operation (you're semi isolated under the
sea...& then..small jolt in the boat when one goes off) that it is more
of a lack of emotion that any form of bravery or cowardice.
