Hi Anne,
AP>Thanks for the note, Maryann.
Your very welcome.
MD>> I'm glad to see you're back and feel up to helping us again.
AP>I don't know how much help I am, but I do enjoy being here.
Just read your last message (6/12), not back for long I see.
MD>> Well, I did receive it and thank you. I see that DTP can be done
MD>> very well in the Geos program.
AP>Sent you another one in this bulk mailing (June issue late mailed June
AP>7th) because I forgot I sent the other one. Watch for it.
That's fine...gives me more ideas to think about.
MD>> Although I'm not a dog owner I enjoyed reading the articles and
AP>I'm glad you liked it. If you want to know how many elements are
AP>grouped together to make one of those very detailed display ads, I
AP>can copy one to a floppy disk and snail mail it to you ungrouped so
AP>you can see exactly how I did the layout by opening the GeoDraw page
AP>and doing a "select all" to display the graphic object handles for
AP>each individual piece.
That sounds great, if you find the opportunity during this time. I
believe you still have my address.
MD>> I sure wish I could find something to use my imagination and
MD>> creativity. DTP seems so very interesting.
AP>It is. Do you belong to a church? Does it have a newsletter? If so,
AP>volunteer to help with it. If not, suggest starting one and volunteer
AP>to do it if the church will pay for photocopying it at a neighborhood
AP>shop like Kwik Kopy or let you duplicate it on the church's photocopy
AP>machine. Do you have children? Are any of them in a Boy Scout or Girl
AP>Scout troop? Does it hold activities that require information flyers?
AP>Do you patronize a small retail business that could use some promoting
AP>to increase its customer base but doesn't have a budget for much
AP>advertising? Perhaps the owner would appreciate some well designed
AP>layouts to photocopy at Kinko's or Kwik Kopy to be flyers he can put
AP>on the bulletin boards in neighborhood washaterias and grocery stores.
AP>If you're not concerned about money but simply want to create stuff
AP>with your GWE, there are lots of things for which you can volunteer
AP>to do flyers. Many volunteer organizations hold fund-raisers for
AP>which they could use nicely designed flyers, but they can't afford
AP>to pay for someone to do it and don't mess graphics themselves, so
AP>they end up with someone in the group typing it with a word processing
AP>program as plain text.
Yes, I belong to a church but the people doing the bulletin there have
been doing it for at least 100 years. Kids are all grown up.
While I certainly could use the "pin" money, it's not as important as
getting some experience with DTP or GWE. You came up with some good
ideas Anne, to at least get me started. Thanks for all the help and
Good Luck to you.
