I can see a logic for files (large) sent via the filegate using a torrent type
system but it would be very difficult to exclude specific classes of traffic
i.e., mail.

The general speed of the internet is enough already for the purpose -
providing
we do not get large file updates on a frequent time interval such as silly
game
engines that no one wants to download :)

There are one or two sources of these that drives me up the wall at times as
they come from a slow source !

At the moment my (down/up) speeds has gone (over the last 2 months) from
8Mb/800Kb to 17Mb/1.2Mb.

Hopefully when we finally move to our new home in January we will get a
74Mb/20Mb (other speeds including higher are available subject to wallet which
as I am retired is somewhat limited) which should cover anyone/bbs downloading
from me - it is hardly the case that many/any are on their system asking this
to happen but are running as an automated script.
The benefit to me will be to process uploads quicker and get the called/poller
disconnected for the next one but I do allow 2 / 3 at a time to be connected
(can't remember the exact number) but I do run web, ftp, rdbms, mainframe and
other services at the same time and they need bandwidth between them so limit
individual services - must find a way that they can all talk together so this
can be more flexable - very smart switch linked to the router?

So in a nutshell - no, not really a useful function for mbse or for that
matter
any other bbs/mail system.
