That was one of my problems with Scorpion, parts I and II.  I fail to
see what the Borg thought they were accomplishing by having their
nanites attack red blood cells.  Red blood cells deliver oxygen to the
tissue of the body.  Were the Borg controlling the amount of oxygen
delivered?  I suppose oxygen starvation would make the victim more
docile.
I would think that taking over *white* blood cells would make more sense.
controlling the body's immune system would prevent it from attacking the
foreign materials the Borg introduce into the body.
