If you install the MediaPlayerConnectivity plugin in Firefox, you can set
it up to use MPlayer when it finds video on line.  That's the only way
that I know of to play .asx files.  For things that you download, I just
created a program object for MPlayer on the desktop, and drag and drop
video files on it.  It works very well.
