Snip . . .
NZ>have misplaced the latter. You typed:
NZ>HP> COM1 - addr 03F8 IRQ 4
NZ>HP> COM2 - addr 02F8 IRQ 3
NZ>HP> COM3 - addr 03E8 IRQ 3
NZ>HP> COM4 - addr 02E8 IRQ 4
NZ>I suspect that you meant to assign Com3 to IRQ4, and Com4 to IRQ3. If
NZ>Marty has a piece of equipment on Com2 it will interfere with his modem
NZ>on Com4 since both use the same IRQ line.
Snip . . .
If you recall the *entire message*, the info on the four com ports "are
the defaults" under DOS. Those are the defaults that DOS uses unless
a manual change to the assignments are made. The data is correct as
typed!
I suggested for Marty to make adjustments according to what the hardware
piece already on COM2 uses, like using the same assigment for his modem
since both would be controlled by a hardware switch and they won't be
physically connected at the same time. Herb.
