I know this sounds like a *REALLY* dumb question =) but does/can a mono vcr
output a stereo signal over the coax output? I don't think there's anyway it
could for tapes, since the stereo signals are stored totally independantly
from the mono signal (so a mono vcr won't even touch them).
But will the converter in VCRs (or other equiptment) output a stereo siganl,
even though technically they're 'mono'? I'm not sure how the stereo signal is
encoded into regular VHF transmissions - i assume it's independant of the
mono signal, but perhaps not. It would also depend on the converter i suppose
- if it actually splits everything apart (which it might do, in order to
generate separate signals for the regular audio/video line-outs (RCA plugs)
that most VCRs have) and jams it back together again, or if it just filters
out all the other channels execpt the one in question..
anyways, i dunno if i'm too clear here, but perhaps someone will understand
me and know ;) thanks
