If you don't have the technology, you can send a "poll packet",
which is just a normal one of your packets, except there are no messages in
it.  This is what the brain-dead QWK users do on my system.

However, FTS-6 does tell you what to do, and that is use a
supposed-extension to Zmodem, in which you get the ZFIN straight after the
ZINIT (or something like that - let me know if that isn't in the docs).
