All the MFM and RLL drives of that time suffered from the mechanical
alignment of the tracks/sectors, it wasn't until improved encoding schemes
came along (ESDI) that things improved. You needed to do a Low Level Format
of MFM/RLL drives about every 3 years to retore the reliabilty...
