Hi,

Never played much with ESDI drives so I've encountered a problem with an
old system I haven't delt with before. The drive is a maxtor esdi and
has specs of C-1224, H-15, S-36, 338M, and the hdc is an adaptec
ACB-2322A. The drive had msdos 3.3 with a driver to access all
partitions with the rom bios enabled and cmos type set to 1. All the
logical drives were 32M as was expected.

So I did a new ll format and then disabled the hdc rombios expecting the
msdos 6.22 to handle the greater than 1024 cylinders without a problem.
However fdisk wouldn't see more than 270M. I thought it may be the older
mb bios not handling more than C-1024 so I tried the hd in a newer mb
and it calculated 330M but the problem persists in dos only seeing 270M.

Does it look like I have to re-enable the hdc's rombios and use its
little driver program again? TIA.

 Mike
