12358e5fb738 tech Hello Mike - MM>> Ahhh! Viet Nam, the leftovers of WWII when President MM>> Roosevelt closed the books on WWII prematurely, just as MM>> the Gulf War was closed prematurely by the elder President MM>> Bush. CA>> Yes, it did seem the Gulf War ended abruptly with no CA>> resolution of any of the issues that initiated it. MR> I recently had an insight into the reasons why the war MR> ended so abruptly. Perhaps it may be my mistaken MR> understanding however. The reason is simply because of MR> Turkey. If you remember the USA had encouraged the northern MR> Kurds to revolt but then when the time came the USA did not MR> lift a finger to help. I don't remember that actually, I'm not really well informed about 'world events'. I was educated by a Hungarian immigrant to the fiasco of our encouraging them to revolt and then not showing up. Millions were slaughtered and they've never forgotten nor forgiven us for doing that to them. I seem to recall the "Bay of Pigs" was a similar incident. This seems to be a repeating scenario? MR> Turns out that Turkey had been afraid that if Iraq's MR> northern Kurds had created an independent state that the MR> Turkish majority Kurd provinces would have likely joined. MR> AND Since the USA cherishes its airforce bases in Turkey, MR> it isn't inconceivable that the USA had to make a deal with MR> the devil to keep those bases. Again I am forced to demonstrate my ignorance but I do know the standard of living in Turkey is _higher_ than in the USA and I have assumed this was because of oil? I don't really know why Turkey has as much money as it does and I've been too lazy to find out. Other than a lust for Turkish oil or control over oil or something like that I cannot imagine why we would need a prescence in Turkey? MR> Hence about 150,000 northern Kurds in Iraq were gassed and MR> massacred by Saddam Hussein. Not entirely the USA's fault MR> but it isn't entirely blameless either. In pragmatic terms, MR> the USA needed Hussein to keep the factions in Iraq under MR> control, thus the war was stopped short of Baghdad. I could MR> be wrong... I don't find any of that too difficult to imagine. I am of the opinion that if Hitler had made WWII more profitable for American businesses we would've allowed him to eliminate the jews, the homosexuals, and the masons and never recorded it in any of our text books. I was told that Hitler was very determined that the war would not become a 'profit center' for big business. One of his mistakes. I have no idea if this is in any way relevant to anything but I was shocked recently to find that the second largest group accessing my webpages was in Turkey. I would've never guessed but that's what the server software tells me? > > , , > o/ Charles_Angelich - DOS Ghost \o , > __o/ > / > www.undercoverdesign.com/dosghost/faf/ < \ __\__ ___ * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ...
