| subject: | Re: Bare Telenet Setup With SysOp on Ubuntu |
ca> Hi, I am new here. ca> ca> I was wondering how to set up a Mystic BBS instance that can be ca> connected to with telnet, a SysOp, and a custom splash screen, Nothing ca> crazy. Just the bare bones to get one up and running. At least for Windows, install to a directory, run MYSTIC -CFG to config, go to Servers > Internet Server Options, set your Interface IP to either 127.0.0.1, 0.0.0.0 or the actual machine IP. Hit Telnet Server Options, make sure Use Telnet Server is set to Yes, set the port you want to use (default 23), how many nodes (lines) you want to run, and then open that port up in your router (if you're using one). Afterwards, look in Editors > User Editor. I believe there will already be a default Sysop account in there. You can just change the info you want in the user editor. If not, just run MYSTIC.EXE, create a new account and set it to Sysop level. Look in the mystic\text directory for preuser.ans (I believe). That's the splash screen. When that's all done, just run MIS.EXE to run the server. And that's it for the basics. Probably want to make a shortcut to your desktop with MYSTIC.EXE -CFG isntead of having to type it out all time. --- Mystic BBS v1.12 A7 (Windows)* Origin: http://www.throwbackbbs.com -\- meriden, ct -\- (1:142/799) SEEN-BY: 203/0 633/267 280 640/384 1384 712/620 848 770/1 @PATH: 142/799 322/759 123/500 154/10 203/0 640/384 712/848 633/267 |
