Anyone, please help me....

I cannot connect to the Internet! I am working at my wife's computer.

(1) I have a Tyan Tomcat S2865 MB and Linksys 4-port router running at default 
settings.

(2) If I ping 192.168.1.1 (router) I get error "No route to
server," in both eCS 
2.0 rc1 and WIN2K.

(3) If I try to get mail with Thunderbird or go to a site with Firefox I get 
errors saying cannot connect or page not available.

(4) I cannot connect to the router's setup program with the problem computer but I 
can connect with my wife's.

(5) I changed the CAT 5 cable from the computer's Ethernet port to the router's 
using a brand new cable.

(6) I removed all plug in PCI cards from the computer (SCSI, USB ports, IDE 
controller).

(7) The same problem occurs (eCS and Windows) if I bypass the router and connect 
directly to the cable modem.

(8) The MB has 2 modem network chips, a Broadcom NetXtreme (B57.OS2) chip and a 
MAC chip. I don't see anywhere in the BIOS setup to turn the Broadcom on or off, 
but I have tried with the MAC set to Off and to Default. When eCS starts up the 
Broadcom driver loads but says Speed Undeterminable.

(9) I reset both router and cable modem a few times.

Someone, please tell me the one thing I forgot to do, please!
