I found nearly 1GB of .msi files in several "temporary" windows
directories.  After deleting those, I believe that MSI did a find job
cleaning up the auxiliary elements.

Unlike you, I only have under 4GB free space on my 60GB drive, so..  I need
to STOP allowing files to accumulate.
