| subject: | Rectifier Bulb? HoHoHo |
RS> True, but the voltage is too high to be RS> of use (as it was originally designed) if RS> you use the bridge as you have suggested. TW> I am getting Confused. Who in their Right Mind would replace the Two TW> Diodes with a Bridge. I would, if I had one on hand or if it were cheaper than individual diodes, plus it is often easier to connect to. TW> And How can one say it would be a doubling TW> Circult. You are Putting in Twice to voltage required for a Bridge TW> Rectifier circuit. OF course the Output would be Doubled. BUT that has TW> Nothing to do with the Rectifier Doubiling Voltage. TW> And incidently How many rembember the "Real" Voltage Doubling TW> Rectifier Circuit used in some old Transformerless Circuits?? TW> There was as I recall even a trick to make a Voltage Quadrupiling TW> circuit. It is not a voltage doubler, except when used with a center-tapped transformer (and that transformer center-tap is used). You have either a + and a - 15 Volts and/or a 30 Volt supply - double the voltage of using only two diodes with that same basic circuit. There are voltage doublers, triplers, quadruplers, etc. Just look at many TV and monitor HV sections. TTYL.
