Yeah, there's absolutely no doubt at all now that the driver is fucked.

The one I now use (which works) is for a Mitsumi, I believe, even though
the name sounds like something you'd use on a Creative drive (SBIDE.SYS).

True, but when one has just spent almost $50 of his hard-earned money to
upgrade to a P150+ system, one expects it to work properly.  :)

BTW, you might be interested to learn that I sold the SIS VLB m/board, the
AMD 5x86/160 CPU, the 2Mb CL5428 VLB video, and its 32-bit EIDE VLB
controller, to none other than your extremely good friend, Dave Hatch.
