Hi Paul - I ran into this one shortly after I first called you.
(although it might have been Biz-Nice, I dunno.) I did my standard
QWK download of Avtech, and then, tempted by the 4000 deep msg
base, used the bbs message menu to do a bit of nostalgic browsing
of old msgs. The next time I logged on, the QWk system said
"Downloading 2365 msgs, estimated time 3 weeks" or similar. Rather
than mortgage the house for the phone bill, I aborted, went into
the bbs msg section, browsed a bit til I found roughly where the
new (to me) msgs started, read one of them, went back to the QWK
area, and it dnloaded about what I wanted.
