Just to stir up the pot - isn't it tomatoes that are susceptible
to disease? It's been many years (about twenty-five actually)
since I did tomatoes to any great extent, but there was folklore
that said the soil should be used carefully in other places, or
should be rotated (to other use every other year) or that dead
plants shouldn't be put on the compost pile or something.
I'm not trying to scare-monger here. I just recall that we had to
be careful with what we did vis-a-vis tomato plants at the end of
the season.
