Understand. You don't want to give your e-mail address to the world.
You want to hide your e-mail address.

RT> not if I can avoid it, using some sort of a translation table here,

Where to do the translation? The point of view is the message.

The sending system, that one with the "to: (you)" that you want
to change, already know your address, if not, it can not send mail to you.

That is why i don't understand your wish.
You want to avoid something that had already happend.

And you want a reverse translation for outging mail.
The result is that there are no changes for the outside world.

And is useless because the sending system already know your address.

The only result is that you hide your real address to all users of your
msgbase. Is that what you want to do?

Are you sharing your msgbase?

RT>>> when outgoing packets to node are scaned out?
RT>>> This is for multi-user usage, not just for a single user ...

Your msgbase is used for multi-user usage?
Friends and family? Or open to the world?
(you said to the world at the top of this mail)
